Cannot See a List Published "to" me

mbenn says:
I've searched, and seen others who have this problem, but have seen no solution to it posted here.

I have a list of tasks, if I share it then my wife can see / edit that list of tasks. No problem there.

But now I want to publish that same list to my kids. I want them to see it, perhaps mark it complete, but not be able to edit it. Hence I select the "publish" feature. however they cannot even see the list.

Now I would assume that this would work like sharing, i.e. that they would go into Settings --> Lists --> and accept the list. But it does not work that way, my published list appears nowhere in their account when they log in.

How do you view a list published to you by a contact?

andrewski (Remember The Milk) says:
You don't have to accept a published list; rather, you access it via a public URL, e.g. http://www.rememberthemilk.com/home/username/12345. You can find the URL for your published list on the Publish tab under "Link to this published list".

Keep in mind that the completing/editing distinction you mention does not exist; published lists cannot be edited in any way. The only way to allow your kids to complete the tasks in that list is to share the list (or just the tasks therein) with them. If you want to make sure they don't add new tasks to the list, you could share just the tasks with them (in which case they would show up in their Inbox lists).
