Weekly Planner Printable Lists

moerl says:
I really love how you made this... it's a feature I really appreciated in ITSD, (Is There Something to Do?), which is a PIM for Windows. I haven't used it in a whlie.
Anyway, while we are in the digital age and a lot of us try to keep everything digital in an effort to migrate away from the analog ways involving pens and paper, for example, being able to print out your to-do list is an invaluable asset to a service such as RTM. Why? Well, first of all, you're not going to be hooked up to the web ALL THE TIME. Depending on your tasks, you'll be out and about trying to complete them, in which case it's really awesome if you can just have a printed copy of your to-do list with you. Or, if you like being able to scribble more spontaneous notes on your to-do lists or if you simply love the feeling of being able to put a nice little check-mark on the printed list with a pen rather than just checking it off as completed inside RTM... there are many reasons why this is a great feature.
Now to the suggestion/idea: I love the way the list looks, but I'm missing something very important. The option to include NOTES. There are very few tasks on my lists that I can perfectly describe with just the title and due times and reminders and reoccurences... I need notes to tell me where something is happening and to write down further important details about each task. Obviously, the notes are of crucial importance to the task. Because of this, they absolutely have to be included on the printable weekly planner! Best would be if you could make it so that we can choose whether we want the notes displayed on the printable weekly planner or not... and even better would be if you could make that choice for each individual task as well as for all tasks at once :)
Sorry if I'm asking for a lot, but this should be fairly simple to implement, but would mean a huge improvement on this already awesome feature.
Keep up the excellent work!

I'd like a print option that was formatted for index cards ("Hipster PDA" or DIY planner usage). If you aren't sure how to go about this you might take a look at the DIY templates:

We'll be looking at ways that we can improve our print features in the future (a few people have mentioned that they'd like printing formatted for index cards).
If anyone else has suggestions for printing options that they'd find useful, we'd love to hear them.

An option to show overdue tasks in the weekly planner would be very useful - otherwise they'll never get completed!

chimpel says:
It would be handy to be able to only print checked items/tasks on a list.
For example: you have a standard grocery list with 100 items, but you only need to buy 20 of them today. It would be nice to check them and print.

ac3 says:
It would be very handy to see priorities on the printed lists. This could even be used to accomplish chimpel's request.

npatrick says:
In addition to what ac said, the weekly planner list should have the priority sortation (except that it's sorted by Due Date, Priority, then alpha). It's currently sorted by due date, then alpha.
Great site!
Great site!

I would love to be able to have my notes printed along with each task!

voegler says:
as long as we're talking feature requests: i'd love it if a section of the weekly list (somewhere at the bottom or on the right in a column, separated from the daily view) had all the items without dates -- the sometime/maybe; read/research list items that don't necessarily have a due date but i'd like to have my eyes glance over now and then.

sandie says:
I absolutely agree with moerl and chimpel's suggestions. Just chiming in so you know how many people would love these added features. ;)
Regarding printing to index cards, I've already been able to do that. I pick the RTM print option, select Print from the Firefox window, and configure my printer properties to a paper size of 3 x 5 inches. Works like a charm! I have a Canon Pixma iP5000 though, and I'm not sure if that'll work on all printers.

Index card printing would be really useful. I already tried doing this on Firefox, but last time I tried I got the RTM logo at the top which took up about a third of the index card, and I could only fit about five tasks on!

ultrapasty says:
Everything mentioned on here, plus I'd love to see the print view compacted a bit - there seems to be a lot of unused space = more wasted paper! Perhaps make the logo smaller etc.

ultrapasty says:
Oh and another thing, it would be great to be able to print just today / tomorrow's tasks etc. Perhaps even a print view filter so one can print exactly what one likes!

jfch says:
In the printable weekly planner, I'd also like to control the **sort order** of the items. Organize by one or all of the following:
- priority
- list
- time of day due
Maybe a default sort order can be set under "Settings"?
Love RTM ... keep it up!

I would also very much like printable lists. I would definitely upgrade just out of appreciation.

I am so impressed by this service I am hard up to find many flaws. I would say the biggest area to improve is in the realm of printing. I get online when I can but need printed lists. My biggest hangup is needing to have more ways to order my list. Eg: if I want to search for lists Work and Personal, it would be great to be able to print once with both listed seperately. Currently it is either alphabetical, by priority, or by due date. I hate to have a separate paper for each list! Fine product--I will likely upgrade soon. Thanks for your hard work, and especially for the attempts at gmail and gcal integration!

deekod says:
I would like to add my support for a daily PDF email also

ziger says:
I would love to simply have access to my tasks from the weekly list. Same functionality as you get from within the tabs, but the sort order and split out the same as my print out.
Thanks in advance,
Zig.

I would love to be able to print out all of my tasks, but to have them grouped by tab.

If I could print several GTD-style smartlists in a small format one after the other, that would be ideal. Just checking them off, then having them print in whatever order--just so I can carry a few pages around.
I do have the iphone web app, but it's just so slow, and I can't have my phone with me all the time (though I wish I could!).

It's critical to me that the weekly printable planner include the time estimates next to the tasks. Currently, the lack of that feature makes the printable tasksheet much less useful for me.

I agree with andrewjrosenthal

Wow, there are a lot of great ideas. I really hope you guys can make changes to the printable list sometime - I use it weekly and would love it to be more sophisticated. Maybe you can put Bob on it and have the cow cover some of his day-to-day stuff in the meantime?
Anyway, one fix that might be easy and would help a lot (imho) would be to get rid of the excess dead space in the printout. There doesn't need to be that much space between things, or spaces plus lines between days of the week and the corresponding tasks. The Tasks themselves could be printed much larger, proportionally. (I am talking straight tasks, not with notes). One benefit of this would be that we could all print out our overviews on any size paper we wanted by adjusting our print setup margins - we could use half-pages, index cards, whatever - and the tasks would probably still be legible. This would be great for the DIY-ers, or people like me who want their list more portable.

I'd like to be able to print all my tasks - including undated ones, instead of just those with dates...
Also, if it could be printed sorted by list, or have a "list" column, that would be invaluable.

Would be nice to print a detailed view with estimated times, locations, etc.

1) I'd like to be able to pass in filtering queries to printplanner ... such as:

2) it would be great to be able to order it by priority or date
