When entering a task with notes it's unwieldy. If the note is short I realize that I can enter or paste if after '//'. But if it's not simple, or there are several notes, it's less elegant. I typically then add the task for Today and then go in and add the notes, change the date, and it's done. It would be nice if the right-hand panel was activated on entry and I could enter all the note(s) then.
