SMS Providers for UK - Add Vodafone and Orange
rikrose says:
Vodafone and Orange are two of the biggest mobile telcos in the UK. It would be nice if one or both were supported.

Simply use the free API at http://www.txtlocal.com/sms-api.php
This allows you to send SMS to any UK (and most worldwide) operators. Setup is free, just pay for the SMS you send at low prices.
I use it for my order management system... only took a few minutes to integrate. No problems at all.

rikrose, thanks for your feedback.
If these mobile networks have free email-to-SMS services, then we'd be happy to add support for SMS reminders for these networks. Do you happen to know if Vodafone and Orange provide this service?
If you can let us know the email format to send our reminders (e.g. for Cingular in the US, it's yourphonenumber@cingularme.com), then we can add these to our supported networks. Thanks!

Orange do. I'd never thought to try before but I sent an email to 07xxxxxxxxx@orange.net and I got it as an SMS. Only the subject of the email comes through.
It's possible this only works if you have set up a free orange.net email account for your mobile. I already have that so cannot confirm whether it's a requirement, but it's free for any Orange user to setup.

arollason, thanks for letting us know -- it's a shame that they only send the email subject through (I know that a few networks do that).

I am an Orange user and get free SMS notification of emails and also can get free SMS alerts for entries on the Orange calendar.
I love RTM and would find it very useful to get RTM alerts - via Orange. At present, if I have need for an agenda alert, I use google calendar.
Strength to your elbow . . .

I know this is old but it's still relevant as there still seems to be no Orange support for United Kingdom mobiles (this is the main reason why I signed up for RTM!)
Are there any updates on this? :(

any progress here?
@emily - only sending the email subject would be fine, better than nothing surely? At least you can put the title, time and date of the task in the title of an email, any further info could be obtained though mobile web.
