Auto-refresh for Gears

I'm using the GMail gadget, which of course does not use Google Gears. So, I keep RTM open in another tab for Gears sync. However, when I update a task (or add a task) from the GMail gadget, the update is not automatically reflected in the open RTM tab, and therefore not automatically synced through Google Gears.

Therefore, in order to keep my local Gears copy current, I have to manually refresh the RTM page by one of various means.

Is there any way to have the open RTM page automatically refresh or even "push" changes so that Gears is always up to speed? I don't see a way.

Gears is supposed to work the way you're asking about, but we've been having some problems with the latest few versions of Gears (0.5.16.0 and later). If the site works with Gears disabled, we recommend keeping it disabled to prevent loss of data or cache problems like you're seeing.
