Initial Loading is very slow

Every time I go to the site, the orange "Loading..." box is there for maybe 10 seconds and no list is displayed yet. Once it finally loads I can switch between lists very quickly, but that first load takes forever.
It happens on first load and any time I hit refresh on the browser. I've tried turning of the task cloud because it looked like that was the last thing it loaded right before the list showed up, but it didn't help.
This has been happening for many weeks now, which tells me it's not just a random slow server response. I also don't have all that many items, complete or incomplete so I don't think the database is having a hard time.
