Android app tags don't sync

More information: I noticed that all my tasks that were not in sync had an overdue date. So it seems that overdue tasks do not sync for some reason. I changed the due date and did a manual sync and the tag updated correctly. However, that is not a good solution to the problem.

I too am having this issue: there are tags that I used and deleted from YEARS ago that appear on the Tag List on the Android app. There are also tags that I deleted just today that still appear in the Android App, despite manual resyncing.
I'll sumbit a report, but I have to believe this is easy to duplicate on your end.

The app seems to think everything synced fine but the changes never actually show up on the site or other RTM enabled apps.
