Do Recurring Tasks Expire?
sixty8doors says:
Ive been using RTM for about two weeks now... Love it a lot! Many thanks.
Ive been using the RTM apps in gmail and also the app in chrome, oh, and also an Adobe Air app. Im trying to clean all this up and just have ONE place to get my info. Since I'm on Ubuntu linux, a couple days ago I started using Tasque which integrates with RTM nicely.
One thing I noticed today is that Tasque (and other apps for that matter) have been showing my recurring tasks only about a week in advance. For example I have "start parked car" recurring twice a week, but I only see the recurring thing for the next week. My recurring task marked "workout" (which is 3x a week) only shows the next workout coming up, not the next weeks worth.
Do these recurring tasks expire? I dont have any expiration dates on them. Do they only show the next recurring task or something? Some tasks show the next two, some show the next one.
I also notice if I go to the RTM website, some tasks will show the next two coming up, even if its once a week, while other tasks which are twice a week only show the next one.
Im sort of worried that they will disappear and get canceled.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!

Can you post the repeat interval for any tasks you're wondering about?
Also, do you only find these problems in Tasque or on the website also? I'm not sure, but it's possible Tasque doesn't show repeating websites the same way as the website, so it'd be helpful to look at the website first to make sure it's set up the way you want.

Yah, I am noticing some weird things. I wonder if Tasque screwed them up or what?
OK... here goes...
"workout" scheduled to repeat every tuesday, thursday and saturday.
"start car" every wednesday and sunday
"fertilize grass" every 6 weeks
"change oil" every 3 months
And that is all I have for recurring tasks. I notice these on the RTM website... The "workouts" show the next two and thats it. I see the next two of "start car" and then thats it. the other tasks... fertilize and also oil I see the next ones of.
I hope these keep repeating as I never put any finish date on them.
OK, thats from the RTM page. Now for the Tasque program. First off, I do not see my workout scheduled from yesterday. In fact I dont remember it yesterday to begin with and thats why I forgot about it :) (poor excuse I know). Funny though, Tasque is not showing my overdue tasks. I now postponed them to today, and they still dont show. In fact, all my tasks look correct in Tasque as with RTM, but the difference I see here is Tasque is not showing recurring tasks that are due today!!!! This sucks.
So I have two challenges...
#1- I hope my recurring tasks in RTM do not expire as I dont see past the next two.
#2- Tasque is not showing recurring tasks that are due today! Yikes!

Lemme check my RTM in gmail....
-looks good. shows EVERYTHING as it should.
I have an adobe air app...remember the task. lemme check that too...
...and that is fine too!
Looks liek a Tasque problem for my second question.

For each repeating task you mention, RTM will only show any past due (or due today) instances and then one further instance. So "fertilize" and "oil" will only show the next instance but then, on the day they're due, they will show the following instance too.
This sounds correct, so perhaps Tasque isn't showing them the same way. Does this seem accurate?
Let me know if you have any further problems or if they don't repeat as you expect.

Yeah, Tasque does not support recurring tasks well. Details available in this bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552386

Sandy, thanks for the reply. I really enjoy Tasque as it integrates well with Ubuntu and the Tasque icon can reside nicely in the panel tray.
So occording to the bug, there is a work around it sounds like and I will give it a try. Apparently, I need to create a a new duplicate task, but this time include a due date for these tasks and then they will be fine.
