export a smart list to ics

(closed account) says:
When I click on either the "iCalendar" or "iCalendar (events)" links it does not result in a .ics text file on my desktop. Instead, Windows says I just open the link with an application and asks me if I want to open it with Windows Calendar or something called 30boxes. I just want a text file so I can use a convertor to make a cvs file out of it.

Am I doing something wrong? In Firefox I have gone into Options/Applications and set the "webcal" format to "Always Ask" instead of having a default application ... but, still, even if I right-click and choose "save link as" Windows thinks it must open the link with an application.

How can I simply download an ics file?

(Wishing in a very big way that I could simply export to csv!!! this is a big drag!)

thanks!

It sounds like Windows or Firefox are messing up the handling of the iCalendar file type. You may want to try Firefox in safe mode, or to reset Windows' association with iCalendar files.
