Tasks default fields bug

When I go into settings to choose the default fields on my tasks, I unchecked "due" but it still shows up when I try to add a new task.

It sounds like you're in a view that has today as the default due date, e.g. Today or a Smart List that includes due:today; new tasks will "inherit" the due date of the view they're a part of. (A new task added from your Inbox, for example, shouldn't have this problem.)
