Smart Add and Multi-Edit

In the past, I was able to turn on and off the multi-edit feature. After the introduction of smart add, from reasons still I can't understand, I have to keep smart add always on. I keep my tasks sorted by due date, and assign them specific times, and when my lists are long, they may go off screen, so I may not see what is selected always. Web page is always open and between tasks I may forget what's selected.
I may press c and complete multiple tasks without knowing, I may assign incorrect due dates, I may assign wrong tags etc. This happened a few times and I don't want to turn Smart Add off to disable multi edit.
Thanks.

The reasons for switching the selection behavior are outlined in our blog post about Smart Add (see the section called "Bonus tweaks (read this!)").
The current mode is a hybrid of sorts, and selecting individual tasks can be done by clicking on each task's row rather than on its checkbox.
And you can always see how many tasks you have selected in the area on the right (pictured here).
Hope this helps!

@andrewski thanks, but I really prefer optional multi-edit. i seldom use rtm with mouse and smart add and multi-edit are orthogonal functionalities, at least in my case. your assumptions about their use does not apply to me.
@rajjan this is what i'm trying to do, but i need some shortcut to step to the first element in the list. press n and get the mouse to reach the first element... (or press j or k until you reach what you want in a 30 element list.)
guys, i'm using opera browser, xmonad window manager, and of course emacs. mouse is not something i like to use and i really need a "rodent-free" interface to rtm. :) thanks.
