This works pretty well! One glitch I noticed is that with the Multiple Inbox feature enabled, the RTM box on the right does not work correctly. It covers the inbox instead of pushing it to the left.

Oh, I just looked at http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/gmail/addon/status/ and it says that some Labs features and the RTM display are not yet compatible. Hope that Multi Inbox is on the list of ones to add to the compatible ones :)

Same here! Please make it compatible with Multiple Inboxes. Otherwise, it's great!

ability to chose what lists are shown is really needed....as currently shows them all.

I guess I never figured it out, but multiple inboxes interferes with the RTM addon in both Firefox and in Chrome.

You can set which list to view by clicking on the "Set task view here" bar at the top of the sidebar.

I wonder if you could make something similar that works inside Google Calendar as well?

I had a beta version of chrome and had the same problems reported above, solved by going to current production version

It still overlaps part of the right side of the inbox though.

Otherwise its a great add!

I like the feature but it is not stable for me.

RTM "Extension" (not the gadget)

1. The starring-an-email worked great at first but no longer adds a task to RTM even though it is still configured to do so.

2. On occasion, when returning from Gmail's "View single email" back to the Gmail inbox (main view with RTM extension), the gmail inbox "squashes" to the left hand side. All buttons and the email grid are on top of each other. This may be a Chrome problem.

3. Assigning a task to a different list does move the item but this is not reflected in the Chrome extension. Doing a refresh does not solve the problem. Specifically, moving a list from ListA to ListB 1. the item still shows in ListA and 2. clicking on the item shows that it is still assigned to ListA.

4. Feature request: I find the dropdown list-box containing lists to be confusing. I don't find the manual text entry portion of the list dropdown to be useful. I would prefer the dropdown to activate when clicking any portion of the list box (not just the tiny triangle)

sellersb, I'd suggest checking the status page linked to above; likely your Gmail is running an incompatible version.

The extension conflicts with the labs feature "Multiple Inboxes". The display of the inbox area is totally garbled.

Seems to be a problem with the CSS in the plugin that does not play nice with the two inboxes.

Please try to fix this.

@andrewski I know about the Google Calendar sidebar gadget...but I was wondering if there is some kind of technical limitation that is preventing you guys from porting the "real" RTM sidebar into gCal. The "real" sidebar is infinitely better than the gadget is.

@andrewski I tried hacking it into place myself, but failed miserably...for what it's worth. Note: I'm not much of a programmer so my failure doesn't mean much.

Thanks; that does help. If you disable Labs does it appear any different? Some Labs features (namely Multiple Inboxes) can cause problems with the add-on.

Also, if you haven't done so already, would it be possible to try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, restarting the browser, and trying again?

I've been too optimistic. The problem with the collapsing Inbox reappeared today after I had restarted my PC. Additional info:

1) Disable Labs: does not solve the problem

2) Clearing Chrome's cookies: may help temporarily, but after PC restart problem reappears.

3) Clearing Chrome's cache: does not help.

I previoustly reported this behaviour to happen on an ubuntu 9.10 / Chrome 4.0.295.0 installation.
Today I found the same problem while running under Windows XP SP3 / Chrome 4.0.295.0.

On both systems F5 or Ctrl-F5 trigger a refresh that restores the correct view of the Inbox.

Are you still running the same Gmail version? We're starting to hear reports of what may be a new version.

Gotcha. Does clearing your cache help? If not, can you try disabling any other Chrome extensions?

It stopped working for me too. It's as if it no longer exists. The tasks tab is even gone from the gmail settings page.

Yesterday I was having the inbox collapsing to the left problem others have above but today that seems stable. Today's problem is the when individual emails are opened, paragraphs do not wordwrap and the email extends way off the screen to the right. Interestingly I installed the firefox version as a test and am seeing the same problem. Anyone else have this?

Update on my last post - further investigation reveals this is a problem with one specific email in my inbox, not the extension (duh)!

Google's change of the GMail version to 14347794 has stopped RTM to work, both in Firefox and Chrome, so this is not only a Chrome- issue.

The same for me. RTM is not at all working as of today.

GMail version 14347794 and the plugin has stopped working :

I am also unable to get RTM to load in gmail and the Tasks tab no longer shows up in settings (is there another way to find out what version of gmail I am running?) Basically same problem gerbert and betobetico mentioned.

It's looking like Google has rolled out version "14347794" to many Gmail accounts; we need to update our extension to support this version of Gmail.

Unfortunately, we're yet to be able to access this version of Gmail from any of our test accounts (and we have a lot of them!). Without access to this particular version, we can't develop our fix. :(

We're waiting for Gmail to roll out this version to everybody, and as soon as that happens we'll work to support this Gmail version as quickly as possible.

We'll post any updates on our Gmail status page.

We've at last been able to access this and determine what's going wrong -- unfortunately it's an issue with the Gmail/Greasemonkey API that stops the add-on from loading.

The issue has been introduced with the latest version of Gmail's code; we've reported the issue to Google, and they're looking into it.

Unfortunately we rely on this API to be able to load Remember The Milk in Gmail, and without it the add-on doesn't work. :(

I've posted an update on the status blog and will update that post (and this topic) as soon as we have any news.

Fingers crossed that Google will fix this soon!

maquido, the issue Emily mentioned above will affect all browsers, including Chrome; it's a problem with the Gmail/Greasemonkey API, which "lives" on Gmail's website.

This outage has made me realize how incredibly dependent I am on the RTM plugin for gmail. Since many of my tasks come through email, it's hard to imagine how I managed tasks before this plugin. I really hope there is a fix soon, the gmail gadget isn't a sufficient replacement (without being able to star to add tasks or to go directly the the email from the task).

Are there any plans to fix the incompatibility with multiple inboxes? This is a deal breaker for me.

I love the new RTM Gmail extension for Chrome but there seems to be a persistent problem when you attempt to switch lists.

When you use the 'Set task view' drop-down to switch to a different list view the add-on always then reports 'No tasks' (regardless of what list you choose). The 'Refresh' button does nothing at all. The only way to get the extension working again seems to be by signing out and back into Gmail - this results in the tasks in the 'new' list being displayed correctly. I am using Gmail version 14660723.

Please advise if this is a known bug, if there is a workaround and when it might be fixed.

I cannot find the 'tasks' setting in the gmail setting area. I consequently cannot find out if I have a supported or unsupported version of gmail.
The add tasks on more actions adds a task to the Gmail task manager, not rtm.
I've disabled labs.
I'm on the latest version of chrome running windows 7

Any suggestions welcome.

I just did that (#alert(GLOBALS[2]), that is) for my account, which started behaving strangely today. It returned 14733172, so apparently there's a new version out in the wild.

Here's what's weird about the add-on behavior for me. My task list loads fine in the right sidebar. It also functions properly; I can add tasks, and work with them. However, I can't create a task from an email, and there's no "tasks" option in the settings area.

At least GMail's changes didn't break the add-on entirely this time.

I'm using latest chromium build (40841) with latest extension and getting Peter Skinners bug as well... as described here by him below. any ideas?

Same for me - build 14857395, though I am seeing it in Firefox as well. Linking from "More actions" seems to be severed. Oddly enough, I can get to the Settings -> Tasks tab by editing my URL to be:

(I think. I've had it come and go a few times, this appears to do the trick.)

Er, hmm. Never mind the URL edit - I just did it again, it didn't work. But just hitting "refresh" on the settings pane allowed the Tasks tab to show up again. Weird.

Hi, I'm able to add and edit tasks using the 3 tools (calendar gadget, email gadget, and email add-on). However, the tasks are not in any way integrated to gmail. Also, my calendar subscription takes a VERY long time to update (now upwards of 5 hours). (I don't have issues with the subscription in ical) Removing all other labs/extensions didn't help. My google version is 1499521. Any tips or updates would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ps-I also submitted an issue report.

Hello. I am getting a conflict between Gmail tasks and RTM tasks using Google Chome and Gmail version 1501801. Using the Gmail Add task with an email adds the task to the Gmail tasks not RTM. I do not seem to have any way of turning off the Gmail tasks feature. I can use the RTM pane fine. The automatic email linking is the only feature not working as far as I can see. It would be such a great time saver if it worked.

As a workaround I can paste the info from the Address bar as a url when the email is open. This problem was present before the last time Chome updated and in fact I have not got the email to RTM working at any time.

Is there an issue with updating tasks with Gmail version 15107464 on Windows? I can see the events fine, and the add-on picks up edits made directly to the list from the RTM site, but edits in the add-on are not updating for some reason.

If anyone is having an issue, please check our status page to see if your Gmail version is supported. If it's not supported, things will likely not work. Some edits appear to work for me (like changing the list), but editing the due date does not. Is this an official bug?
