Exactly how to create a task by SMS?

tsvlasuk says:
I've searched through the archives, and I've seen lots of references to creating tasks by SMS, but I don't know exactly *how*.

Where do I send the text message to?

Tsvlausk,

I think that the easiest way to create tasks by SMS is to use direct messages on Twitter. Take a look at the information on the Twitter Services page https://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/twitter/

Have fun!

You actually can't directly add a task to RTM via SMS, but you can do so via Twitter by sending a direct message to @rtm.

Let me know if you have any questions about it; it does take a bit of setup to configure.

The issue I have with using Twitter is that I can't find a good app in the Android Market that allows me to create Twitter messages using voice input.

I am currently using Handcent SMS on my HTC Hero phone and it's voice recognition is really good for creating sms messages. If I had a way to send that sms to RTM to put it on my task list it would make things a ton easier as I think of todo's driving down the road and need to get them on my task list. Sure, I can send them to myself and then cut and paste them later but that's not a very elegant solution. I'd appreciate any help you might be able to provide.

Are you familiar with Dial2Do? It is an application where you can call them and voice create a task for RTM.

You can use Jott$$ to send tasks to RTM via voice without routing through Twitter. I seldom do though because they all go to your inbox. I prefer to send them via SMS either through Twitter or my RTM inbox email address, so that I can use Smart Add to put them in the right list and add whatever metadata I want.

I don't know of a free solution to add tasks via SMS.
