Widget tasks

brandonbean says:
Great work on the Android app guys. This is the reason I am a Pro user. I installed the android app today from marketplace, and I use the widget on my desktop. However, no tasks are shown in the widget even though I do have tasks on my list.

1) Is this normal behavior? I believe this may be because these tasks aren't due today.

2) Is it possible to allow us to have the widget show all tasks? Maybe I am an unusual user, but I don't assign my tasks due dates.

I have the same issue, brandonbean. I would like the widget to show me tasks from the Inbox including those without a due date. It seems the widget only displays tasks that are due today. Rather limited. I hope this will be addressed by RTM.

My two cents. It actually makes sense to display only Todays tasks, otherwise I don't think the widget would be able to fit all my action items!
But, an option to set widget display would be nice.

The widget should have size options. Cant find calendar and tasks both on one screen.

I would also like to have my calendar- and rtm-widget on one screen.

I don't use due dates either, and just organize my tasks by tags and priority and some custom lists. Customizing the widget list and size could be great.

Great to see other guys saying exactly what I wanted to write when I came here.. :) Finally got my HTC Hero this weekend (YES, one reason I waited was because RTM wasn't out before.. :D ).

I am pleased with the RTM App for Android but the widget could need lots of improvement: I would like to have very flexible choices concerning which tasks should be displayed - I am using due dates only for some of my tasks while most of them have none. I am also not using the inbox - I am a user of a list (Personal, Work, Shopping) system and I would like to have choices like "All tasks with priority 1 and all tasks with due date" or "All tasks from List XY" or "All tasks with due dates" or "All tasks with priority 1-2 from List XY"...
I know this is work but if I could see at least something of it implemented this would be great!

However, THANKS for making the RTM app for Android and keep up the great job!

Greetings from Germany,
Trav

A good way that RTM could make this work for everyone is to have the option of the widget displaying only tasks from a specified smart list. It would then be up to the user to create the smart list that they would like. That way RTM devs won't need to think of every possible permutation of our needs!

BTW, the app is amazing, well done devs.

Awesome app, thanks.

But, I do have a suggestion. if there are no tasks in the widget, you can't single click on it to add a new one!

+1 for great work, much appreciated.

Also +1 for changing/reducing widget size - it'd be great to be able to fit RTM and calendar widgets on the same screen.

+1 for user controlled widget size

+ a gazillion for user defined widget content (a particular list(s), smartlist, etc.)

+1 for the idea of making it use a smartlist. Sounds like that should make always everyone happy, those who want 'Today' as it is right now, those who want 'Inbox' e.g. because they're doing GTD and those who need even more customization.

Same here, wonderful app, but would love to have a smaller widget (2x2). In the meantime, I am using a different calendar widget (CalWidget) that is available in a multitude of sizes, so I can place both calendar and tasks on one screen.
