One could tag them all with a shared tag (e.g., repeating) and then have a smartlist that suppressed them until due and showed you what was in the inbox, but I know of no way to accomplish what you want while remaining in your inbox all the time.

If you "switch" to using a smart list primarily (there are a handful of reasons for doing that, but obviously it's your choice), you could use the sleeper tags method of hiding future tasks until a specified time.

Then, your working folder could be a smart list that searches for (e.g.) list:Inbox NOT list:zzz. Tasks would automatically show up there as you set them to "wake up".

say folks, this idea of using smartlists and sleeper tags may have some merit. I just went thru and deleted the default lists I didn't use (now down to two: inbox and projects). I'm going to try the smart list things. Since I can't (don't) share tasks with anyone, I think I may be a good candidate.

The only question is whether the eventual Pre application will work. Using the iPhone webapp the smart list i have for status reports doesn't seem to generate any completed tasks.

Hm, dgcombs, that's odd that the smart list doesn't work in the iPhone web app.
