Repeat list

dgcombs says:
I have several weekly repeating tasks. It has become annoying to see them all in the INBOX list (this is my "working" folder). So I would like to create another list called "Repeating Tasks" and put them all there. BUT I would like for the new task to show up in the INBOX.

Any way to do this or do I need to resort to some other trickery?

One could tag them all with a shared tag (e.g., repeating) and then have a smartlist that suppressed them until due and showed you what was in the inbox, but I know of no way to accomplish what you want while remaining in your inbox all the time.

If you "switch" to using a smart list primarily (there are a handful of reasons for doing that, but obviously it's your choice), you could use the sleeper tags method of hiding future tasks until a specified time.

Then, your working folder could be a smart list that searches for (e.g.) list:Inbox NOT list:zzz. Tasks would automatically show up there as you set them to "wake up".

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

say folks, this idea of using smartlists and sleeper tags may have some merit. I just went thru and deleted the default lists I didn't use (now down to two: inbox and projects). I'm going to try the smart list things. Since I can't (don't) share tasks with anyone, I think I may be a good candidate.

The only question is whether the eventual Pre application will work. Using the iPhone webapp the smart list i have for status reports doesn't seem to generate any completed tasks.

Hm, dgcombs, that's odd that the smart list doesn't work in the iPhone web app.

Would it be possible to share the search criteria for it? If you'd rather, you could submit an iPhone & iPod touch app issue report via our support system.

Thanks!
