Link to a file on a local drive

gscheder says:
I would like to enter a link to a file on a local drive c:\ in the "URL:"-field of a task and when clicking on this link the corresponding application (notepad, excel, word etc.) should be launched and the file opened.

Outlook offers this feature when typing into a task and clicking on it (opens c:\data\file.xls in excel).

How can this be achieved in RTM?

The second sentence above is incomplete! It should be:

Outlook offers this feature when typing file://c:\data\file.xls into a task and clicking on it (opens c:\data\file.xls in excel).

Try file:///C:/YourFile.txt.
Firefox will not let you open a link of this kind unless you install LocalLink. Internet Explorer is more allowing.

I haven't succeeded in using filenames with blanks in them.

Thanks for your hint!

Files containing blanks can be qualified like file:///C:/Your%20File.txt.
So blanks have to be substituted by %20

Dear RTM

It is great to discover that I can preface a URL with file:/// in the URL field and have it reference a local file.

Please, please, please include the functionality to preface a URL with message:// and have it handled by the Apple mail handler. I really, really need a way to link the URL of a message to a task in RTM.

Many thanks,
