only compatible with 3.0

Is RTM only compatible with OS 3.0, or can it be used with 2.2.1 on the Touch? I don't want to upgrade to 3.0 yet given the glitches it apparently has. I try to upload RTM onto my Touch thru iTunes and it says it needs 3.0.

I cannot answer your question about RTM, but I can say I am a 2G touch user who is on 3.0 and notices no quirks at all, so I'd encourage you to give it a try.

Given the date of the 3.0 announcement, I wonder if Apple offers an Up-to-Date program for people who wound up with a 2.x device while 3.x was out. I'd have never bought a 2.x iPod touch 20 days ago, as that $9.95 would be irksome.
