Can I skip the Overview screen?

The "Always skip this page" redirects me to the Task page, but when I close the browser (FireFox) and start over, I'm again on the Overview page.

Hm, doesn't sound like you're missing anything; that's exactly how it should work.
Do you have cookies and Javascript enabled for rememberthemilk.com?
If so, can you try logging out, deleting your cache and cookies for "rememberthemilk.com" and logging back in?

The "#section.tasks" part will mean you always go straight to the tasks view.

But... when logged in, if you navigate to http://www.rememberthemilk.com/, it should redirect you to the default place, based on that setting. If that's not happening, I'd like to know. :)

Just that once. (It should navigate from #section.overview to #section.tasks, but rememberthemilk.com/ will still navigate to #section.overview next time.) You have to click on "Always skip this page" to effect the change permanently.
