Priority Setting using Non US Keyboard

I discovered that on a french AZERTY keyboard, pressing 1,2,3,4 from the main pad does'nt work. however, pressing 1,2,3 or 4 on the numeric pad works fine. But as I use a laptop, Numlock is kind of disturbing.
