New Bug: Emailing a task to yourself may cause browser hang.

ab (Remember The Milk) says:
The following steps may cause your browser to hang and then crash:

1. Emailing yourself a task through your 'Inbox Email Address' (found under the Info tab in Settings)
2. Selecting the task in your Inbox List (ticked checkbox)
3. The 'Sent from:' field reads "Emailed in"
4. Selecting the 'Notes' tab

The 'Notes' tab will NOT cause this problem in any other List you might have. This also does NOT effect tasks sent to you from other users (ie 'Sent from:' is "", even if is yourself). It's advisable that you do not attempt to continue recreating this bug if it occures to you.

We're aware of the bug and will work deligently to iron it out.

Should read:

(i.e. 'Sent from:' is 'a contact', even if it is yourself)"

e.g. Sent from: ab

I'm experiencing some quirkiness with the notes feature as well. It has nothing to do with trying to email myself a task. The following steps caused this bug which hung Safari Version 2.0.1 (412.5):

1. Created new task in "Personal" list and added note.
2. Created new task in "Work" and attempted to add note. Pasted text only contents from email into note and the save button was grayed out.
3. Original tast in "Personal" had note's contents overwritten with text I'd tried to paste into work task's notes.
4. Tried to re-paste text into Work's task and browser hung.
5. I force quit the browser and logged back in. Attempted to enter text manually into note for Work Task and browser hung again.
6. I only experience this when attempting to use notes.

I hope this helps you in trying to track it down. All in all a very nice app! Very clean and nice functionality. Keep up the great work!

A quick follow up on the above...
I tried quitting the browser and logging back in. My "Personal" task now contains the original note. Strange, but fine by me. When I try to view the work task's note, the browser hangs and I have to force quit. Is there a limit to the number of characters that can be stored in the note? The pasted text wasn't obnoxiously large but it did contain a url. Hope this helps.

Hi rlemise,

Please create new topics for each bug you might encounter.

The problem is not with urls, or the limit of characters a note can store, I tested both extensively with no problems.

I found the problem to actually be with long words that do not contain a space, such as a url (I tested short ones with no problems).

This bug will be addressed in this topic in the future:

Thank you for your help.

Subject: e-mailed message to milk is causing firefox to crash.

Details of how it crashes firefox:
- How: I forwarded an email to milk with content in the body as my todo stuff. When I go to milk, login, then select my e-mailed task, then select "Notes" on the right hand side of the screen, my CPU usage goes way up and essentially, firefox crashes due to "not responding" WinXP error. I usually then ctl-alt-del to end firefox.

- What Milk is running on:
-- Firefox: v1.0.7
-- OS : Windows XP SP2
-- Hardware: Cpu = Pentium M 1.7 Ghz, Memory = 512 MB

Additional info:
It is reproduce able on my system (I tried this twice and it happened both times) for my account. I have not tried this in IE 6 or on a different system. I also have some screenshots of the stall, the error it produces in the firefox "report this problem" dialog box, and the forwarded task e-mail to milk.

Could we possibly disable this feature until it is fixed ( emailed in notes ) to protect newbies like me who unhappily crashed their browser? Just started using milk and love it, but anything which crashes firefox gets tabled for a while with a big frowny face.

Hope this helps clear up the problem.
