While faultfinding another matter I booted up Tiger on the same iMac as my original post, and find that Google Gears & RTM loads fine. i.e. the problem would appear to be just on Leopard.

Both the iMac and Macbook Air have been updated to Gears 0.3.13 and still RTM fails in the same way only on the iMac, i.e. I can't access RTM windows if I say Yes to the RTM Gears window. I have to disallow it..
Google Reader, and the new Greasemonkey Wikipedia offline using Gears work ok on both machines..
