monkkx, can I ask which version of Google Gears you're using? (Shown in 'Tools' then 'Google Gears Settings'.)
Also, which operating system and browser are you using?
It sounds like Google Gears isn't handling the URL correctly, so it may be worth re-installing Gears if possible.
