Offline Problem

I searched for "offline" in the forums and checked all the posts and couldn't see this problem. Apologies if this is a duplicate.
OS: Windows XP SP2 fully up to date, Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.9
I've been using RTM for a couple of months now and it's all been working fine except today. I was offline and deleted a task, modified some tasks and added some tasks.
I closed my browser and some time later started a new browser and accessed RTM. Everything was back the way it was before my changes except the deleted task which remained deleted (it warned me that delete couldn't be undone offline).
Also working offline, it was impossible to change any of the task names, they simply reverted to the old names again in the list.
Other than that, RTM is great! Keep up the good work.

Update ... now I'm back online I notice all my changes have (re)appeared in my task list.
However, the fact I made changes offline that I couldn't see while offline means that the offline feature is of limited value for me ("offline" was one of the reasons I selected RTM).

pipso_facto, would it be possible to let us know which version of Google Gears you're using (from 'Tools' then 'Google Gears Settings')?
Also, do you remember which specific actions you made in RTM while offline (e.g. which modifications you made to tasks, etc)?
Thanks!

Hi Emily,
I'm using Google gears 0.1.54.0
I did various modifications that day - set some completed, changed the task name on others or the due date.
In the last week I've noticed that my online and offline views are different - if I go offline (no internet access) I see my task list as it was at some point in the past.
As I understand there is no need to manually go offline, is that right?
I just tried going manually offline (to see what would happen) and noticed it said it was syncing. I'll keep an eye on it over the next day or so....
Cheers

I was online and everything looked fine. I closed the browser (didn't log off) and then disconnected the internet. I went to www.rememberthemilk.com/offline and the list is back the way it was, probably at least a week old now. When I went back online again and logged in it was current again. So my cached view is somehow completely out of date, despite the fact I saw it say it was synchronising in the last post 2 days ago.

pipso_facto, thanks for these details. It sounds like something in Gears might not be working correctly. Would it be possible to update to the latest version (0.2.4.0)? Google Gears also has its own cache, which it may help to clear as well (details here, and details on where to find these files on various platforms are here).

I tried upgrading my Google Gears and it's still on version 0.1.54.0. I also uninstalled, redownloaded and installed again with the same result. A search for version 0.2.4.0 turned up Linux and Mac, I guess Windows is still on 0.1.54.0.
I also tried clearing the cache as you suggested.
I'm still having difficulty with this. Yesterday I couldn't access RTM while offline - the browser told me the page wasn't available (I could switch to offline mode from online mode with the internet connected).
Today I can access RTM while the internet is disconnected but it's not up to date (I completed a task which is still shown if I'm offline). I tried manually going offline/online a few times to ensure it's sync'd but apparently it's not.
