Iphone version/complete task
david.barnett says:
First, thanks for the iphone version!! Just found it and it looks great.
However, I cannot figure out how to mark a task complete. The screenshots in the blog show a big blue "complete" button...how do I get it? I have tried tapping, swiping, standing on my head, and everything else I can think of.
Let me know what dumb thing I forgot to try!!
Thanks.

Hey David,
It's kind of similar to how mail works on the iPhone (unfortunately we can't do the swipe thing, as it's not supported in Safari as yet, but we'll do that as soon as it's possible to make things a bit quicker :)
To complete a task, tap the 'Edit' button on the task list. You'll get blue check icons next to each task -- tap one to select it for completion (you'll see that blue complete button, which you can then tap). 'Done' will get you out of that mode.
We've tried to make it as fast as possible to complete tasks in a list, without having to go into the task details each time.
Hope this helps!

Got it...thanks!!!

Actually I'm liking this....because you don't have to worry about accidentally completing something while you are looking at the list...

Not exactly intuitive......but once you actually find this thread it's becomes easy and second nature. Might help to put that information somewhere for people who aren't used to hitting the forum.

Had to Google to find this... not exactly intuitive. Thanks!

for completing a task on the ipod touch, the blue checkmarks (next to the tasks) and complete button are invisible for me, but if you click on where they should be appearing - it appears to complete the task - is this a known bug or am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks.

The invisible blue checkmarks and complete buttons are now appearing for me - go figure! Thanks.

Jim, glad it's working for you.
If anyone else runs into this, occasionally Safari seems to have some image caching issues -- clearing Safari's cache tends to fix this. To do this on your iPhone:
1) Touch the 'Settings' icon on the Home screen
2) Scroll down and touch 'Safari'
3) Scroll down and touch 'Clear Cache'
4) Confirm that you wish to clear the cache
5) Try the site in Safari again
Hope this helps!

i'd also like to say that this follows the heavy discussion on the check boxes in the desktop version.
for what its worth i want to add to the list of people hoping to be able to "check off" tasks. not check them to edit them or complete them via a pop up menu. it just doesnt feel right and is not intuitive for a task list.
on the iphone version now you have to locate the task you want to mark as completed two times. first for your self (but not tap it since that would go into edit mode) then go up to tap "edit" then look for the task again... it really is a design flaw. i can understand that people got used to the desktop checkmark to edit stuff, but on the ipone its a new story again.
plus if you say you are following apples design, thats not quite true. checking off a task is not the same as editing the list of tasks which is a new task for it self ;)
please as an intermediate solution include a big "complete" button in the edit screen of a task. that way it's one search for the task, one tap to go to edit an one to complete. with an automatic return to the list after the tap.
i think this could make a lot of people happy.
checking off tasks creates a great peace of mind and is the power behind ta-da list… where i am comming from.
cheers.
