Add a task with a due date?

Is there any way to add a task with a due date immediately? I know the task is automatically selected after I create it, then I can hit 'd' and type a due date. However, if I am on a smart list that filters by date, then the new task I add is not selected because the smart list filters it out. Is there a way to do this?

If you are using Firefox there is a quick add function that will let you set due dates, tags and which list you want to file the task in. Look in the faq's.
