rename multiple tasks but came out new name ' multiple XX'
mcmeded says:
I tried to rename multiple tasks in each list by adding the abbr. of the list after the end of every task's name.
So I switched on the multi-edit mode
then I selected all tasks
at the name of the task it showed "multiple"
so I added the abbr of the list (let's say 'XX') after "multiple"
It came out like "multiple XX"
then enter
.....
Now.. ALL my tasks were renamed to multiple XX,
All the original name were gone!!!!!!
PLEASE HELP

mcmeded, is there any chance that you're still logged into RTM and have the application open? If you are, you can undo this edit by pressing "z" or by choosing "Undo Last Action" from the "More Actions" dropdown.
If you've edited any other tasks since this multiple edit, you may need to "undo" multiple times to get back to undoing this action. (You can keep pressing "z" to undo multiple times -- it will remember everything that's happened since you loaded the application and started the session.)
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion : )
Unfortunately, during the panic period, I did what all the fools do.. reloading the page : (
So now, when I tried to do the 'undo' to all last actions. It came out like "nothing to undo"
: (
Thank you so much for the help anyway : )

mcmeded: I bet that Emily (or Bob should she be busy) could use the backups to help you out.
Emily: I tried the multi-editing mode, and as mcmeded found out, it's quite possible to rename several tasks to "[Multiple] XX". For tags this makes sense, just adding tags to several tasks. I couldn't think of one case where you would want to give several tasks the same name. Perhaps remove the possibility to edit the task name in multi-editing mode?

rajjan, you beat me to it :)
mcmeded, if this happened recently, we'd be happy to check our system and see if we can restore these tasks to their previous names -- if you'd like us to check into this, please contact us and let us know the list that these tasks were in, approximately when this happened, and any of the task names that you remember. Thanks!
People use multi-edit in all different kinds of interesting ways, so we allow editing of any property to be consistent. It's definitely a good idea to be careful when using multi-edit, but you can always "undo" if anything happens that you didn't intend :)

Rajjan and Emily
Again, thank you for all the help : )
Rajjan, actually the multi-edit option to the tasks is still helpful, if it comes out what it should be.
Emily, thank you for the restore offering : )
but... this is the secret...all the tasks were written in Thai language hehe... I can imagine how this language barrier can be the burden in this computer communication
Fortunately, i'm quite new to rtm, then the data wasn't quite much..
So I, finally, deleted all the renamed and unexpected "[multiple] XX" tasks and restart all the work again.
Thank you both of you

We could use some operator ("+" for example) to ADD info instead of replacing. So typing "+call" in multi-edit in the tag field, every task would keep their tags plus add "call".
I have felt the need for this feature before, and it would greatly empower the multi-edit mode. As it is, it is a little un-intuitive, as opposed to most features on RTM wich seem to aim at being intuitive (and do it with great sucess :)

Maybe I'm suggesting something already implemented.
Is it possible to keep current values (especially when they diverge between the tasks selected) when multi editing, adding something to them ?

emily (Remember The Milk) says:
It's possible for tags (see here), so you can add new tags while keeping the tasks' existing ones. It's not possible for any other task properties at this stage.
Hope this helps!

Sure does!
Well tags are the most important for case in place.
But then there's also the possibility of being able to increase or decrease time (Due Date) in a bunch of tasks at once. It would even buy you some time with those dependent tasks-hungry people
Like postponing 10 tasks for 3 days (or a month, etc.), when each task has a different due date.
Besides those, I can't see much more use to adding instead of replacing.
Thanks!
