O2 UK say they cannot process alerts

I registered today for Remember the Milk and was very attracted by the SMS alert feature. I use the O2 network in the UK - which is one of the 2 listed as being supported by rtm. My email alerts are arriving - but not the SMS alerts. I noted from the Help section of the rtm web site that the service provider (O2) needs to enable email-to-SMS so I called them up and they told me that they don't support this type of alert.

Can anyone explain this apparent discrepancy / tell me how to set things up so that I receive the alerts to my mobile?

In this topic, David mentioned that it's necessary to activate your O2 SMS to email service by texting "ON" to 212. If you haven't done this already, it might be worth trying. Other O2 users might have more info than this -- hope this helps.
