Severe problems with O2 SMS
seatrout says:
I can't get reminders to work properly using the O2 SMS service. They come through empty, and at the wrong time.
I can get SMS reminders from Google OK; and as far as I can tell, my settings from Remember the Milk are exactly the same -- I have the RTM widget embedded in my Google calendar.
What has been happening, since I tried to set this up, is that I get a message a little before 5pm each day which says something like
"Reminder: Tasks for Thursday (Jul 12) @ Thu 12 Jul 2007 (Remember The Milk)"
Note,
First, that these are tomorrow's tasks, not today's.
Secondly, the message comes in at 5pm, not at 10 am, as I had asked.
Third, it doesn't have any actual tasks on it, even though there are several that are overdue.
I really can't work out what is going on here.
Is it a time zone problem?
I am on GMT, so 5pm here is 9am in California, where Google is, and 2 am tomorrow in Eastern Australia, where I think you are.
I have entered myself as on GMT both here and in the Google calendar. Google's reminders come through when they should.
And do the reminders only show due tasks, not overdue ones? It is a little hard for me to think of a test for that. Perhaps if I enter a task due at 3am tomorrow I will get an SMS in 50 minutes (it's 17:10 here as I write). I will try that.

further investigation shows that it's not really a time zone problem: timed task reminders will be sent properly over googletalk. But the same task simply will not generate an SMS.
I have tried every prefix I can think of
+447968xxxx
00447968xxxx
07968xxxx
and
7968xxxx
None of them work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

seatrout, it looks like the reminder that you're receiving is from Google Calendar (unfortunately Google Calendar doesn't have the tasks from the embedded widget, so it will send a blank reminder if you have notifications turned on for the RTM calendar).
To set up reminders in RTM, you may need to activate the email-to-SMS service for O2 (another user told us that they needed to text "ON" to 212). Then, you can configure reminders on the Settings/Reminders screen.
Hope this helps!
