It sounds like you may have preferred to delete your account and sign up again, which would work aside from changing your account history.
Aside from that, the easiest way is to work with batch tasks in the web/desktop app. You can delete all tasks in the "All Tasks" view, completed tasks too, and you can delete lists and other "categories" in the left navigation bar.
