Search for tasks that started more than X weeks/months ago
I would like a smart list with all the task that have been on my to-do list for a long time, and I tried using startsBefore:"6 months ago". However, this lists all tasks that start before a date six months in the future. Is there any way a relative date in the past? Is this something that could be implemented in future? I know I could use startsBefore:"15 August 2018", but then I'd have to update my smart list every time I checked it.

As you got at with your question, relative dates in the past are not currently possible to search for currently. You can vote for this in this Ideas forum topic.
In the meantime, as you mentioned the only workaround currently is to hardcode a date in your search and then update it periodically.
