Hi there,
Just discovered 'remember the milk' and I'm blown away.
Congratulations on a wonderful web-application...
I'm just wondering if the docs are available as a pdf document or something similar ?
cheers - Dave Porter

Dave, thanks! :) To answer your question, the docs aren't currently available as PDF, sorry -- we should probably look into making them available in a more friendly format for downloading/printing.
davep says:
No worries Emily - on-line is fine !
BTW: Can you somehow order your lists ?
Can't see anything in the FAQ's.
cheers, Dave

Ranbarton: You don't have any personal interest in having user-defined sorting, do you? ;) Maybe if we just ask enough times....
I know it's repetitive; it's simply an issue that has come up since RTM's launch, and I think it would be useful to every RTM user, making it (by my way of thinking) a simple, high-impact place for RTM to improve. I feel like RTM is close to ideal, and that sorting would be the thing that could push them over the top.

Ranbarton: I completely agree with you and was just egging you on. If RTM had a system where we could vote different features up and down, then you and I could express our votes there. In the meantime, I'll cheer you on while you tag it onto every relevant post :) It's the most effective way we have to voice the importance of this feature.

Sorting would be available through the API:
http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/api/
In this case, the API provides a way for anyone to design a custom user interface for the data that RTM is storing.
Custom-sorted columns would be one of the easier utilizations of the API.
You could try learning the API, or asking for help from someone who knows the API (and likely has already done something more difficult that what you are asking):

Jsellen - I am sorry to say that my programming experience runs from some BASIC to a little Pascal, and all of that was about 20 years ago.
I am vocal about sorting for two reasons - obviously, it would be useful to me and, more broadly, I think it would be useful to RTM. I have been a happy RTM user since very shortly after their launch, and I continue to be very impressed with what Emily, Omar, and Bob have built here. I also note that many new users are thrown off my the lack of sorting, which is a common feature in most task managers.
Since I have been using RTM, it has added tags, smart lists, locations, and a variety of small features. I think, and I know it's just my opinion, that some development effort would be well spent to address the sorting issue and enable users to really slice and dice their tasks as they see fit.
Will I stop using RTM in a huff - no, of course not. Despite offering to pay, I know this is a free service. But I will continue to speak up here in the forum when it seems an issue needs to be addressed.
If anyone out there can use the API to enable variable sorting, and you want a test subject, please let me know.
Regards,
Ran
