iGoogle Gadget flashing strangely
spacebear says:
Hi there,
since today my RTM iGoogle personalized homepage gadget behaves somewhat... weird.
The gadget itself seems to refresh every split second, and while doing that, the (vertical) size of the gadget's frame changes, becoming bigger, and smaller, and bigger again, and so on... The contents of the gadget stay the same, though (and are correctly displayed).
I don't have a clue what might have caused this, but as far as I can remember, I didn't change anything in my Firefox (2.0.0.3, couple of add-ons) configuration.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks for letting us know.
We haven't changed anything with the gadget recently, so we're guessing this has something to do with Google's upgrades today. Can I ask if you're using iGoogle on google.com or a country-specific site? We'll report this to Google and hopefully they'll have this fixed soon.

One more thing -- for anyone experiencing this problem, would you mind letting us know which other gadgets you have on iGoogle? It's possible that something is causing another gadget to interfere with the RTM one, so we'd love to check that out too. Thanks!

hi there,
I've got the same problem. RTM is flashing on iGoogle. It's even flashing if I remove all the other gadget from the tab where RTM is.

Hi guys,
Same EXACT thing happened to me today. I tried removing all my google gadgets and nothing fixed it. Just FYI I've got reader, calendar and gmail gadgets and that's it.

Hi Emily,
thanks a lot for your quick reply!
I am using the German localization of iGoogle, which you can reach here: http://www.google.com/ig?hl=de - other Gadgets on my page are Google Mail and Google Calendar, both of which should normally be quite compatible ;)
Oh, and the bug seems to be independent of the theme I'm using - it even occurs in iGoogle's standard version.
Best wishes
Al

Hi There
I'm getting this too,
Tried removing and re-adding the gadget and that didn't work (didn't think it would to be honest)
In response to Emily's request re other gadgets, i have four tabs, with RTM on my home tab (where else!) and along with that Gmail, Google Calendar MarkII Magic, and google docs and spreadsheets. and I'm on the .co.uk & .com version of iGoogle.
Hope you find it soon

Hi there,
same here, using FF 2.0.0.3 and the "normal" google.com/ig page. Other gadgets on the same tab are Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Notebook.
I broke the "reload/resize"-cycle by hitting escape, then changed something in my tasks directly on the rmilk site and did a "Refresh" in the gadget => task list refreshed fine, reloading did not start again. So maybe it has something to do with the initial loading of the gadget...?
Best regards
Jutta

Thanks for the details, everyone.
Google are fixing this issue, so hopefully it should be working correctly again soon.

I'm still having this problem and have to shut down the GoogleAppsForYourDomain personalised Home page to stop it driving me nuts. Any update from Google on this?

I'm getting this today too as well. And for me it just started today - wasn't happening on the 17th/18th like seems to have been for the rest of you. Like others have said, it doesn't seem to matter what other gadgets are on the tab, it happens when the RTM gadget is the only one, so it definitely seems to be the RTM that's causing it.
Thanks for your help looking into this.

BTW, for me at least this seems to only happen on Firefox. Not happening in IE.

might as well throw in my 2 euros worth:
http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en is my igoogle and same issue. slight (though slightly pointless) fix is to minimise the RTM gadget

Yeah, same issue here. This wasn't happening this morning. Started happening a few hours ago. Other gadgets seem to be behaving fine.
emily (Remember The Milk) says:
Unfortunately we're still waiting on Google to fix this, but in the meantime we've put in a workaround that should hopefully fix this behaviour. If it's still not working correctly for anyone, please let us know. Thanks!

OK, the reloading and height chnaging problem is fixed - the only problem now it thinks its Monday 21st even though my time is set to GMT. I'm posting this at 20:55 on the 22nd!

seems fixed for me as well

simon.ford, would it be possible to double check to make sure that your timezone setting in Remember The Milk matches your system timezone on any computers where you use the site? It's also important to check the location of the timezone to make sure that they match. Thanks!
