Subtasks for free users

Hi, I'm a regular user of RTM for many years. I'm getting my team to start using it, and sharing lists with them, but a lot of my work involves subtasks. I'm being told by them that as they have a free account, they are unable to see the subtasks! Is this true?
I'm not sure why they would need to upgrade to 'see' the sub tasks which I assign them from my paid account?
Please could you clarify?

Yes, subtasks are only visible with a Pro account, and wouldn’t show up in a shared list or inside a given task.
