Page Doesn't Stop Loading
sp0rk says:
In http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/bugs/1717/, a user describes the IE7 loading indicator on their computer doesn't stop and it was assumed that it was an IE7 ONLY problem.
I'm a user of Firefox (except at work). Of Firefox 2 and 1, both of which have the same problem.
I'm unsure of the other users about this. Anyone else have [or doesn't have] this problem? Tell your browser version and OS. =]

sp0rk, thanks for reporting this issue. It may be worth clearing your cache and seeing if this helps. Does the loading indicator show that it's stuck on loading particular files? Thanks!
jsg says:
This issue is due to cache-controll headers... or some type of headers... you can find some documentation at microfofts webdesign suport... however I had the same problem and I fixed it by removing all of my headers.. now its up to deductive reasoning! lol
jsg says:
Ok... after the deductive reasoning... I have no headers...
I use a script do remove some sutf and send it back to the page someone was on...
On the return to that page... It doesn't stop loading if I have the php header function setting any of the "expires" "catch-control" "last-modified" "pragma" headers set.

jsg says:
header("Cache-Control: no-store,public");
however
header("Cache-Control: public");
header("Cache-Control: no-store");
does and it loads... I'm lead to believe that these are just because of http:// 1.0 and 1.1 differences

jsg says:
Strange... now none of them work again.... go figure... a webdesigners life in short.... Its gotta be something in the script.... I notice when I refresh the page an image disapears (no image box displays).... when I refresh again its still gone..???!!@$#^
jsg says:
not even without headers... its still loading.... btw my browser is ie-7

I have this problem in IE7. I notice the bug has been closed due to lack of updates.
I have this issue on 3 different computers, all using IE7. I have only just started using RTM, so seems unlikely its a cache problem.
In addition, the thing it's stuck on sounds like a button I could push to do something. I feel the screen lacks buttons to do things :-)
So is fixing this problem the answer to my lack of buttons to push worry?

IE7 - I'm also getting the page continually trying to load - the site works fine but just keeps say 4 items remaining while you're using it.
Seems to be stuck trying to download an image file called 'ico_clock.gif'

Full path of the image that my browser seems to be hanging on is:

The image loads fine when you access the image directly in a browser

For anyone experiencing this problem:
1) Does this happen every time that you load the site?
2) Would you mind clearing your cache and letting us know if the problem continues?
It seems this only happens under certain conditions, so we're trying to determine what those are so that we can fix this once and for all :)
Thanks for your help!

Using IE7 it happens every time (I've tested this now on two PCs) - even after I've cleared the cache
It works fine in Firefox

jwillsfleming, we've made some changes today that we're hoping will help this -- would you mind clearing cache again and see if it improves? Thanks for your help!

as of today, I can't load "Note" tabs....... (cleared my cached and provided it more space).
emily (Remember The Milk) says:
jahlert, which browser and operating system are you using? Can you please let us know what happens when you click on the 'Notes' tab? Thanks!

Emily,
Wierd. Last night (UK time!) I tried it and on one of my PCs and it worked without hanging... great!... But it still didn't work on my other PC (both XP/IE7).
Then... I tried it again this evening on the PC where it was working and it's hanging again! Tried clearing the cache but it still hanging.
This one just wont die!

Deleting Temporary Internet Files on IE7 with XP Pro SP2 makes no difference. Still get the Page Doesn't Stop Loading problem.
ian.drake says:
If I attempt to go to "icalendar", it does not display. I get error screen: "The webpage cannot be displayed
Most likely cause:
Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed.
What you can try:
Search online for a program you can use to view this web content.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
"
Then when I go back to the previous screen which was showing the "pdsl" problem, it is no showing the pdsl problem!

This is causing a problem (workaroundable) because if I want to edit a task and I am experiencing the "pdsl" problem, I have to stop the IE loading before I can then proceed to edit. Nonetheless IE still thinks it's loading ....

still got this problem
emily (Remember The Milk) says:
We're continuing to investigate this issue (we've experienced some problems as we're having trouble reproducing this consistently). Sorry for the inconvenience!
ian.drake says:
I get this all the time on any computer I use.

I just experienced this problem for the first time. I use Firefox on XP. The only difference as far as I can tell is that the iGoogle homepage just changed formats yesterday. Otherwise, nothing has changed.
When I load the iGoogle homepage on IE7, however, I don't have this problem.
I tried clearing my cache in Firefox, and the problem remained.

metellusscipio, thanks for letting us know -- it seems to be related to Google's upgrades. We're checking into this and reporting the issue to Google -- hopefully it will be fixed soon.

No problem. Hope Google figures this one out soon!
I noticed that you asked for more information on another posting in the forum, so here you are:
I have several tabs. RTM is on my home tab, along with the Gmail and gCal gadgets. I use the US site even though I'm based in Germany.

I just moved the RTM gadget to its own tab, and it still had the same bug. When I minimize the gadget, I don't get the bug at all (probably because then the gadget doesn't load, but you'd know that better than I do).

metellusscipio, thanks for these details -- Google are fixing this issue, so hopefully it should be working correctly again soon :)

This is happening top me too - very annoying.
Firefox 2.0.0.3 XP SP2
It repeatedly loads and teh height changes with each 'loading;' as if an extra line is being toggled on or off.
If I logout so the RTM gadget only displays the login box the problem goes away.
I'm also based in UK.

The problem appears to have been solved as of this morning (CET time). I don't have the continuous refresh anymore.

Hi, don't know if this helps but I'm using IE6 on a PC running Win 2k (I know it's old, but my IT dept hasn't scheduled me for an upgrade yet).
I always seem to see a message in the status bar saying "Downloading picture http://1.static.rememberthemilk.com/img/ico/ico_clock.gif ..." but it doesn't seem to affect the functioning of the website in any noticable way.
