Start dates oppose to due dates

How can I make use of start dates in RTM?

I know RTM has *due* dates (dates when tasks have to be completed), but I am looking fo a way to filter my task by date I want to start them on.

One way to approximate start dates is using "sleeper" tags to hide tasks based on how soon before their due dates you want to see them.
