Hi Jeff,
It's not currently possible to receive notifications when new notes have been added to a shared task, sorry. If this is something you'd like to see in the future, you may want to vote for this in our Ideas forum here.

The Atom feeds was something I suggested as a workaround in our discussion of a way to determine when a note had been updated. As Brendan mentioned, there's no way within Remember The Milk to be notified directly of just an update to a note.
