RTM page constantly "refreshing"!!

wizzer says:
I can't get anything done or changed or written on RTM because the page seems to refresh about every 5 seconds.

I also keep getting the error...

"There was a problem reaching the server. Are you connected to the Internet? (rtm.preload failed.)"

...though I have no connection problems at all and if I for example try to go to settings/reminders, the page refreshes again and I'm back to where I started, that is the list I was on prior to trying to go to settings.

I've tried checking my own log and could it have something to do with? :

or some other maps.google.com URLS like for example:

because RTM and maps.google.com are the only things showing up in my connection log. I've tried allowing cookies, scripts, referrers and what have you, to both RTM and maps.google, but it hasn't helped a peep!

RTM is totally useless to me if I can't this fixed, because all I can do is stare at the same list I'm "defaulted" to over and over again and not being able to get to any other list or setting, without being "refreshed" back to where I started.

Please help, this is extremely frustrating... :o(

(PS) I've tried logging on to RTM on two different PC's here and both do the same refreshing stunt... :o(

wizzer, thanks for reporting this problem.

Can I ask which browser you're using, and if you have any extensions installed?

Would you also mind trying the HTTPS URL, and seeing if this makes a difference?

Thanks!

Hello!

The problem is with IE6 and yes I have 8 different extensions installed. (Add feeds to Squeet, Add to EverNote, ieSpell, IBM Java Consol etc etc)

I have always used HTTPS and did try with just HTTP now, but the refreshing problem was still the same.

I have just tried installing Firefox and now there doesn't seem to be a problem at all, only I had to visit Google first and allow cookies there and everything or else RTM wouldn't even load. (I know, I should probably have installed Firefox eons ago, but old habits die hard..chuckle chuckle)

At least now, I can get to my lists and reminders with Firefox, so my frustrations have practically evaporated! :o)) It would be nice though if both browsers worked on RTM, because I don't always have access to Firefox at other locations.

Thanks for your quick reply and have a nice day! c",)

wizzer, glad it's working in Firefox for you. IE6 is one of our supported browsers, so it's possible that third-party extensions or applications are causing this problem. Perhaps you could try disabling the extensions, and disabling any firewall, ad blocking or script blocking applications, and see if this fixes the problem with IE.

Okay, I just did that now, disabled all extensions and browser helper objects, restarted and then turned off the firewall (NIS). Logged on to RTM using IE6....

After that, there's was no refreshing, but the settings and reminder tabs were blank (no preset info, like time and language and so on and no reminders at all) and the rtm.preload failed error message was still there too.

Also, I have had the same extensions and firewall for eons (updated of course, though), and there's never been a problem with RTM before, until Google came on to the RTM scene, so to speak. I have been away from RTM for a while and when I came "back" the locations link was new and so were the problems.

Of course, I'd rather not have to disable my firewall and I need/love my extensions when I use IE6 too and since it didn't help anyway, I guess I'll just have to stick with Firefox when logging on to RTM then, but that's not a problem for me at all. Firefox isn't all that bad actually. :o)

Anyway! Now at least you know that IE6 isn't happy about the Google changes (I'm guessing it's that), but as long I can get to my lists and so on with Firefox, then I am happy. :o)

Thanks for your time anyway! c",)
