Items in Inbox being miscounted (redux)

I'm afraid the problem of miscounted items in the What's New Inbox on the Overview page is back. The problem was resolved as noted in the previous thread (now closed), but when logging in late last night, the problem had returned.

Me again. :) This morning I logged in to find a What's New Inbox count of 5, when in fact, there were 11 items in the Inbox.
