Repeat every weekday
mrrentman says:
New user here. I can't figure out the behavior of repeat every weekday. My task has no particular time of day associated with it.
About half way through the day (not sure exactly when), the task shows up on the following day already. I guess that's okay, but I don't understand what triggers it to appear.
So now I have two instances of the task (today and tomorrow). If I don't get to doing the task today, I want to delete it (because I don't want it showing up as a completed task when I didn't do it). So the delete option asks me whether to Continue Repeating or Stop Repeating. I pick Continue because I still want the task to show up every weekday. However I get mixed results. Sometimes it creates yet another task for the following day (and then there are two of them on that day) and sometimes it doesn't.
If I say that I don't want to continue repeating then it deletes the task from today and the one that was there tomorrow and now I have none.
This just doesn't make sense to me. How do I get rid of today's task without impacting the following days?
Thanks

Hi mrrentman,
Deleting the task and choosing to continue repeating, as you described, is the correct way to delete a single occurrence of the task.
If your task has no due time but you're seeing a new occurrence created automatically in the middle of the day, it's possible that there may be a timezone mismatch. Be sure that your Remember the Milk timezone and location (found on the General tab of the Settings screen) matches the timezone and location settings for your PC.
If it appears your timezones are in alignment, would you be able to contact us via email so we can take a closer look?
Thanks!

Hi, do not confused how to get it just done step by step thinks which u allow right now.
Hi alexdrum111,
To check your timezone in Remember the Milk:
1. Click on Settings
2. Click on the General tab
3. Select the appropriate timezone in the Timezone dropdown box
4. Click Save Changes
In addition, you'll want to check the timezone settings for your PC. How you do this will depend on your operating system.
If you have any trouble with this, please contact us us via email as well.
Hope that helps!

It isn't a time zone issue.
I've deleted all my tasks and I'm running a test with a single repeating task to try and figure out what is happening. I'm a brand new user, so I've got to be doing something wrong.

Hi mrrentman,
If you're not able to figure out the behavior you're seeing, please contact us. We'd be happy to take a closer look with you.
Also, it may be worth noting the difference between "every weekday" and "after weekday". These two types of repeating tasks behave differently when creating a new occurrence. This page gives some additional information.
Hope this helps!

I deleted all my tasks and put one task in my list for 8am to "repeat every weekday". It works inconsistently.
I let it sit there for three days and it went underlined as overdue, but never appeared for the subsequent two days. Then I deleted the task clicking "continue repeating" and it shows up as underlined for the second day. Then I deleted that one and clicked "continue repeating" and it showed up for the 3rd day. I assumed this is how it was meant to work.
So then I let the task sit for two more days. This time, the original task went underlined as being overdue AND it created a new task for the next day. Now I had two tasks.
So how can it work one way initially and then a different way subsequently? Keep in mind this is a single task and I never reentered it. I only entered it once, and RTM has automatically created all the subsequent tasks as described above.
Can someone help me. I don't want to start using RTM for real until I can predict how it is going to handle my tasks.
Thanks

To add to the confusion, it seems to replicate the task much earlier than I thought it was supposed to.
Again this is an 8am task set to repeat "every weekday".
So right now in my timezone, it is 10:30am on Friday and new iteration of the task for Monday at 8am has already appeared. My timezone setting is correct and the date/time on my computer is correct. The Friday 8am task is still sitting in my list as overdue (underlined).
Is this how early the repeat "every weekday" is supposed to create the new task? And at the risk of being too repetitive, I'll just point out that earlier this week (Mon, Tue, Wed) it wouldn't create a new task at all until I first did something to the overdue instance in my list.

Hi mrrentman,
Can you contact us via email so we can take a closer look with you? You're right that you should not be seeing two different behaviors on the same repeating task.
Thanks!
