Gmail task pane does not appear in either Firefox or Chrome after install.

I stopped using RTM about a year ago and then was really excited to learn about the Gmail add on. I think I was probably too excited and scared it away entirely since it has not appeared in either browser yet.
I've been through the FAQ on this, cleared my cache etc to no avail.
I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble at this time just gettting it to install.
I'm running Win 7 64 bit with the latest versions of Chrome Firefox and Gmail.
Thanks

Have you checked that it is not hidden on the right hand side of the screen.
If it is there will be a very small grey arrow half way down the right hand edge of the screen, click on this and it will expand the task pane whilst shrinking the email box.
Regards - Martin.

elliot.selick,
Martin's suggestion is a good one; the extension can often be hidden on the right side.
Otherwise, you may wish to make double-check your Gmail version in Gmail's Settings, on the Tasks tab; more details are listed on our status page. If you don't have the Tasks tab, it's likely the add-on isn't installed correctly or something else is happening; if that's the case, please contact us so we can discuss some more specifics.
Hope this helps!
