Letting other RTM users create tasks for me

morbandit says:
I've been an avid RTM user for several years now, but something has always irked me about it.

Surely the idea behind "Remember The Milk" is that your wife or partner has asked you to bring milk home with you? Yet unless I'm missing something obvious, it isn't possible for my partner to create a task for me?

Am I missing something or is this feature planned?

I've had a todo item in my RTM list for coming on 2 years to use the RTM api to build a web frontend for my partner to create tasks for me, but figured I should ask.

Hi James-
One of the easiest ways to let someone else add a task for you is to use a shared list. Once a list has been shared, all users with access to the list will have the ability to view, add and modify tasks within it. You can find out more about sharing lists here.

Another option is to use the "Send Task" functionality. For example, you wife could "send" a task from her account to yours. The task would be moved to her "Sent" list and would appear in your "Inbox" list, where you could complete it. You can find more about this option here.

Hope that helps!

Cool, great, thanks. Will check it out :-)

How do I define what list a task goes into from the iPhone app?

When adding a task in the iPhone app, you can use the '#' Smart Add shortcut to set both the list and the tags for the task. As you're typing in the "Add Task" bar, tap the list/tag icon to display a list of available lists and tags.

Hope this helps!
