The iPad has smart add functionality: use the light grey "+ Add Task" in the white task overview instead of the white "+" in the dark grey navigation bar.

I never liked smart add on the iPhone that much, but I love it on my iPad...

Concerning the ability to move tasks, it is possible to move a task to another list by tapping the task, then tapping Edit and changing the List. However, it's not possible to move multiple tasks to another list at once. Sorry for any inconvenience.

If you haven't already you may want to vote for this in our Ideas forum to show your support. I didn't see this suggested in the iPad section, but this suggestion is a similar one for the iPhone app.
