Problems putting tasks on a specific smart list, plus move to options

mcveayj says:
When I create a task on one of my smart lists, it will only put the task in my inbox, and not on my smart list.

1) how do I put a task on a specific smart list?
2) how do I add my smart lists to be an option to move tasks to? (right now the only option to move to is the inbox!)

Thanks for any advice!

In order for a task to remain in a smart list when you add it, the smart list criteria must be un-ambiguous. Normally, the problem is the due date (dueWithin:"1 week") or excluding certain list (NOT list:personal). Using OR is another way to make a smart list ambiguous.

If RTM can't figure out ALL the meta info, it gives up altogether.

In addition to what rajjan said, it's worth remembering that Smart Lists are essentially saved searches and that your tasks always actually reside in one of your "normal" lists, whether that's your Inbox or another list. Although the Smart List will display the task, the task is never created in the Smart List.

Hope that helps!
