List vs. tags
katie.myer says:
I've been using (and loving) RTM pro for several months now. I keep seeing blog posts professing love for tags and all the cool things you can do with tags. I'm not using tags at all, and I wonder whether I should be. I have about 15 lists that keep my to-dos separate. Is there an advantage to using tags+smartlists instead of actual lists?
Thanks!

Hi Katie,
The advantage of smartlist and tags is that you don't have to manually manage your lists. If you create task that matches smartlist criteria it will be added you it.
Also tags allow for much more granular task organization. You can have one task listed in multiple list.
Tags are also useful if you want to manage projects and sub-tasks in RTM.
If you're happy with your set up and get things done the way you do it perhaps you don't need to use tags.
Thanks

If you have 50+ projects and use lists to keep track of each of them you will have lots of lists. Using tags instead, all tasks can be in one list and you use searches/smart lists to access them.
One task can only be in one list, but can have several tags, letting you find them in different ways.
Much easier I think, smart lists are one of the key elements of RTM. Unfortunately you can't share them as you can share regular lists, but that's the only disadvantage.
