Milksync won't start
(closed account) says:
I've got the same problem someone posted 7 days ago. On a 64-bit Windows 7 machine using Outlook 2010 and Milksync 1.0.12 the app never starts and I get a "MilkSync has stopped working" dialog box. This happens right after install and before I can ever launch the utility. I'm posting new because the one 7 days ago the last entry said "Done!" with no explanation or anything. Does that mean it's solved? Does it mean that someone else filed a report on the bug? I can't eval the product if I can't use it. And I sincerely need SOMETHING for syncing my Outlook with my new Windows Phone 7 mobile.
Please help! I'll pay the sign-up fee if it works! (obviously I can't do so if I never get it functioning...) :-(

Would it be possible to submit a MilkSync for Microsoft Outlook issue report via our support system, if you haven't done so already?
Just select your issue from the list on the left, and follow the steps shown. If your issue isn't listed, click on "I'd like to report a new issue".
Your report should provide all the info that we need to investigate further, but we'll be in touch via email if we require any more details.
Thanks!

For what it's worth, I have Office 2010 64-bit as well.
I get the impression after 24hrs that nobody wants to help here. Is that how this works? I guess this is not the place I need to spend my money. I need a stable solution to Windows Phone 7 glaring omission.
If there aren't any other answers, I guess I should just give up on RTM. :-(

I've already done that, andrewski. Do you have any other suggestions?
Remember:
- Windows 7 64-bit
- Office/Outlook 2010 64-bit
- Have returned to the pre-installation restore point and deleted the files between each attempt at installing
- Have now installed not only 1.0.12 (twice), but now 1.0.13, all with the same result
I rely heavily on Outlook tasks, so I really need a solution.
Thanks!

Is there any further information on this? I've found some other workarounds on the web, but they go through the calendar and that doesn't appeal to me at all.
I have been using the free GTM app on my WinPhone 7 and I like a few things about it, including the ability to postpone tasks. I'm getting to where I'm wanting to rely on it. Let me know what we need to do so that I can sync it with Outlook--for me a high priority.
Thanks

Just to add to this thread, I too am getting this error on Office 2010 x64 on Windows 7 x64. First I installed and the default location it wanted to install to was under appdata, not programs. Didn't catch it right away and installed where it wanted and it would never start - got the "MilkSync has stopped working" dialog immediately. Uninstalled and installed to Program Files (x86) and it worked fine (moslty) until I rebooted at which point it went back the the stopped working dialog....Before I am told to, I will submit a "MilkSync for Outlook issue report"....

Since there is no recent activity (other than mine) on this topic, I'll throw something out - @jeremy - did you try running MilkSync as administrator?
When I set the shortcut up to run as administrator, I was able to launch MilkSync without the error.
If you run the application on startup, you will probably have to track down where it is installed and set the compatibility tab of the milksync.exe file as well (right click on the exe, properties, Compatibility tab, check the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox).
Let me know if this helps...

Same issue here. I've just submitted a ticket on it.
Also Windows 7 x64, Outlook 2010.
I am using Outlook Connector to sync with WLM. Anyone else experiencing this issue also doing this?
Running as administrator does not solve the issue for me.
Restoring and re-installing in a different folder did not solve the issue either, even temporarily.
I also have a laptop running 32-bit Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 with an identical configuration. It starts fine on this machine.

I spoke too soon.
Although on the 32-bit machine the system tray app will load, as soon as I try to start Outlook, it crashes. Upon restart it disables MilkSync.
Side note -- is it necessary to have a separate system tray app always running, even when Outlook is closed, instead of just an Outlook Add-on? Is it possible to disable the system tray app and still have syncing when Outlook is open?

Good to see some progress on this (I had given up for all intents and purposes).
I'll go ahead and try reininstalling in Program Files (probably a good idea--I too didn't quite understand why the odd install location) even though it doesn't appear to work in all cases. It can't hurt to try. I can also try the Run as Administrator idea. I'm wondering if it could also be set to run in Windows XP compatibility mode... I'll have to play around with it and will get back...

brian,
I see the issue report you submitted. We'll be in touch as soon as we can. Thanks!
Currently, it's not possible to sync only when Outlook is open. You can quit MilkSync to remove the icon in the tray, but you will need to start MilkSync again in order to begin syncing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bonjour,
I have the same problem on a Windows 7 64 bits PC with Oulook 64 bits. I tried the execute as administrator route and it didn't change anything.
What should I do?

Is there any progress being made on this? It seems like enough people are having problems with 64-bit Windows and 64-bit Outlook that a fix should be easy to generate. Is RTM able to duplicate this problem? Have they tried?
jcsurprenant,
Would it be possible to submit a MilkSync for Microsoft Outlook issue report via our support system, if you haven't done so already?

Your report should provide all the info that we need to investigate further, but we'll be in touch via email if we require any more details.

MilkSync can be used with 64-bit versions of Outlook & Windows as of version 1.0.11, and supports Outlook 2010.
Would it be possible to contact us so we can take a closer look at these situations?

i feel like i was just mugged :( the issue i have has been raised for quite sometime with no apparent resolution, sad to say. fix it now or i want my money back. Running windows 7 with office 2010 like everyone else and nothing works. like the idea but don't like paying for stuff you knew didn't work.
