Google Tasks might start to creep forward

I wanted to add this comment to the old thread here, but that thread is now closed, so here is this small update on its own...

I have been surprised how little polish Google has applied to its modest Google Tasks product, and I have worried about how a refined Google Tasks could effect RTM, so I read this blog post with a mixture of interest and mild alarm.

I know RTM is, in many ways, far ahead of anything Google is likely to do, but I also worry that Tasks might have such a natural advantage in reaching new users that it could be a hurdle for RTM's continued march to world task domination.

I simply mention this as I think I am not alone among RTM users in thinking it is a great web site, and also thinking the development cycle is very slow, and I want RTM to be positioned as well as possible to thrive for years to come. Thus I think it makes sense to note the possibility of enhanced competition from other task managers.

I have my fingers crossed that your iPad app development goes smoothly and that Bob might have some time then to turn to site enhancements.

Hi Ran,

We definitely appreciate the concern, but I just wanted to reassure you (and all users :) that Bob and the rest of the team are very much hard at work making Remember The Milk the best that it can be.

There's always going to be a ton of task management products out there (it seems like there's a new one popping up every day!), but we try to stay very much focused on what we're doing, as that's the only way that we're going to develop a better product. :)

I appreciate the reply, Emily. I think you are just right to stay focused and not chase after the many would-be competitors. I am sure the iPad app will be a world killer, as the iPhone one already is. More power to Bob and the whole team.
