New tasks not inheriting smart list properties

When I create a new task while viewing a smart list, it does not inherit the list, which I believe it should do automatically (as stated at http://www.rememberthemilk.com/help/answers/smartlists/addtask.rtm)

The list's query is:
list:HASTAC and (dueWithin:"7 days" OR tag:major OR dueBefore:today)

Is there another way I can create this smart list so that new tasks get put in the HASTAC list by default? Thanks for any suggestions!

Tasks can only inherit the smart list criteria if ALL the smart list criteria are un-ambiguous. In your case, using dueWithin, OR and dueBefore destroys this.

The list:HASTAC is un-ambiguous and ideally RTM could pick up that part but it doesn't work that way.

As rajjan said, the property inheritance doesn't pick up unambiguous parts of ambiguous searches; sorry for the inconvenience. I've added this to our list to investigate.
