RTM sometimes gets date wrong (Bug?)

fredrikstolpe says:
Hello

I have encountered some strange behaviour in the latest iphone app on the latest OS. It's hard to reproduce and it rarely happens. Just wanted to check if you have had other reports.

Sometimes i open RTM and find that the date is wrong, not the same day as the iphone thinks.

Upon restarting RTM (killing the process in iOS) the date is correct again. It have happened a few times.

I rarely shut down my phone, so there's a lot of multitasking going on. Sometimes I switch between apps from the menu of running processes, sometimes I start them from the regular icons. I noticed there's a difference when RTM starts up depending on these methods, a progress bar when starting from the regular icon... maybe that a start for finding the problem...

Regards
Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,
I've added this to our list to investigate; sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, as you noticed, you should be able to quit the app (or manually restart your iPhone) to correct this. For what it's worth, The Unofficial Apple Weblog has a helpful description of how to quit an app manually.

There shouldn't be a difference between opening the app from the home screen or via the Recently Used dock; it just sounds like the background process is sometimes killed (a function of iOS preserving resources), thus restarting the process.

Hope this helps in the meantime!

Hi RTM,
I noticed this bug too when I changed the date on an existing task. I changed the date from Never to Today and the due date is reflected as "Monday Jan 19" when it should say "Wednesday, Jan 19". This doesn't happen when I create a new task - only when I make a change to an existing task.

Hope that helps.

Hi Emily,
That's the issue I mentioned above; that's on our list to investigate, and in the meantime, quitting the app manually (or restarting your device) will correct this.

Hope that helps!

I can confirm that a restart works, I've had quite a few tasks since Jan 13 where when I edit the Due date and pick tomorrow, it's set to Jan 13.

I'm fine with the restart as a workaround for the moment, I only wanted post this and let you know that I'd be happy to help if you need any further info on the problem.

Still waiting for this to be resolved; date correct everywhere but the "Due" screen. It is NOT infrequent, it happens every day until one resets their device. I typically forget and after I change due dates find them to then show as "overdue" so I have to go back in and change the date again. Extra steps, no fun. Otherwise, i LOVE the iPhone app.

This is happening to me too, consistently. Any progress on this? If it's on your list to investigate, it might be worth moving it up a bit - it's very irritating.

Me too. Happens every second day or so. Please fix it, since it is somehow annoying.

Just wanted to mention that I am having this exact problem, too. I'll try restarting the app as a workaround, but looking forward to it getting fixed permanently :-)

I'm experiencing this problem, too. And in case it helps Bob track it down, the problem started happening with the iOS 4 release with multitasking. What I observe is that the app define "today" at app-start, and does not redefine it after it rolls over midnight and/or on subsequent app activations. Hope that's helpful.

Hi twilbur,

We've tracked this one down, and it's fixed in the release that we're currently waiting on Apple to approve; hopefully it'll be available on the App Store shortly!

That's good to hear! This was so annoying...

Does it also solve the bug that lists archived on the web are still visible on the iPhone?
