Set inbox to 7 days or more
pealo86 says:
I've added several tasks for me to complete over the next 3 weeks (approx) and yet only one of them is showing in my inbox.
It is dated 10th December, however I have a repeat task set to the 8th which is not showing in my inbox.
Does anyone know why this might be?
Also, is there a way I can set my inbox to show me what I need to complete for the next 7 days or more? I'm used to using todoist.com which lets you specify how many days worth of future tasks to do so it would be great if I could find a way to do it here.
Thanks

Actually I've just thought, the Overview page is what I'm looking for right?
I don't suppose there's a way to see more than what I have planned for just today and tomorrow?
What would be the easiest way to see what I have in store for the next 30 days for example?

Hi pealo86,
The Overview may be what you're looking for, but it's not customizable; it sounds like you're looking for some particular lists.
You may be interested in Smart Lists, which offer more flexibility for showing certain tasks.
A few examples of searches you can save as Smart Lists for the lists you're looking for:
Next 7 Days: dueWithin:"7 days of now"
Due X days from now: due:"X days from now"
Due in the next 30 days: dueWithin:"30 days of now"
Regarding the missing tasks in your Inbox, I'm not sure exactly what you're seeing, but it's possible the tasks are in another list (i.e. not your Inbox) or that future repeating instances aren't showing up. Can you provide any more details about what you're seeing? (Feel free to contact us by email if you prefer.)
Hope this helps!

Ohh I see! Just had a play about with Smart Lists, they look ideal.
Seems like I misunderstood what the Inbox was for, I was thinking it was to list tasks from all lists that were due 'today' for example.
Does the inbox work just like the other lists in that it will only display tasks that were added only to that list?
One small thing, now that I've added smart lists for 1 week and 1 month, I now have the '1 week' and 'all tasks' tabs budged down underneath the other tabs. I don't suppose it's possible to re-order / rearrange these tabs?
Thanks for the help.

There's nothing special about the Inbox other than it's the default list for new tasks if you don't specify which list it should go to.
Using smart lists is probably one of the best ways to access your tasks in RTM. Regular lists are quite simple, like trays for papers. Smart lists let you see what's relevant for you right now in all your lists.

Thanks for the info. Yup, Smart Lists look like the way to go.
Just wondering, to set up a Smart List to see any overdue items, do I use:
"dueBefore:today" ?
I read an old forum post about it from a year ago but there was a big debate about certain tasks being missed out or something:

pealo86,
dueBefore:today would show items due yesterday or previously; dueBefore:now would show those same items, as well as any items due today but overdue (e.g. "Make a phone call at 9 AM" would show up in this Smart List after 9 AM).
Which you choose is up to you. For what it's worth, the Overview's Overdue section uses dueBefore:today, with the Today section showing any overdue tasks due today.
Hope that helps!

Oh right I see, thanks ;) I'll just go for the dueBefore:now option then I think.
On a different note, is there a way to get email notifications when I get a reply to my forum threads?

pealo86,
No, sorry, email notification unfortunately isn't currently possible. :(
However, I recommend that you add a task related to this forum topic and set its repeat to "after 1 day", and you can check in from time to time to see if there's a reply. Hope that helps in the meantime!
