Enter due date etc. Immediately when creating task

When I create a task, I have no option to enter due date or priority until the task is created, at which point it disappears into the list for that folder. If the list is longer than the screen, it's then totally invisible and I have to go search for it to enter due date.
I *must* be missing something, I really hope?

Figured it out already thanks. Smart Add is indeed smart. Really glad tagging is this easy - way to go RTM
You can also find a link to the new task above all tasks for a few seconds. If you click that link you can edit the task further.
This tip is especially handy if you add a task to a smart list and the task doesn't meet the smart list criteria and disappears. This way you can edit it further.
